Pep Guardiola reveals why he chose not to compete with Man United for Alexis Sanchez

Manchester City were favourites to sign the wantaway forward not so long ago, but the club baulked at the Chilean’s transfer fee and wage demands and have since pulled out of the deal.

And Guardiola says he has no complaints about the club’s decision, accepting that it could’ve harmed the stability within the squad.

Much like the rest of us, Guardiola expects United to complete the Sanchez deal very soon.

According to numerous reports, City’s great rivals are prepared to pay the 29-year-old around £500,000 per week in wages, as well as other related bonuses, while the move looks set to cost £30m.

And now Pep Guardiola top confirmed Sanchez deal: I think Alexis Sanchez is going to go to Man Utd. So congratulations to them. The players and their managers decide what is the best for them”. 🔴 #MUFC #transfers

Guardiola added: “We’ve spent a lot of money, we can’t deny that, but I’ve never put pressure on a club when they believe it is too much.

“Immediately I accept that decision and move forward to find another solution.

“The stability of the club is the most important thing.”

Guardiola, ever the gentleman, even congratulated United om the deal.
