Read more on Tribal FootballLONDON — Manuel Pellegrini is back in the Premier League after being hired as manager of West Ham.
The London club announced the arrival of the former Manchester City coach on Tuesday on a three-year contract as the replacement for David Moyes.
Pellegrini won the Premier League and the League Cup in his three years at City before being replaced by Pep Guardiola in 2016. The 64-year-old Chilean has spent the last two years in China with Hebei China Fortune.
He previously managed Villarreal, Real Madrid and Malaga in the Spanish league.
West Ham decided not to renew the contract of Moyes, who stabilized the club in his six months in charge from November and led it to a 13th-place finish in the Premier League.
Pellegrini "is one of the world’s most respected football coaches and we look forward to working with him," West Ham joint Chairman David Sullivan said in a statement on the club’s website. "It was important that we appointed someone with knowledge and experience of the Premier League, who already has an understanding — not only of the teams and players we face but of West Ham United and our ambitions.
"Manuel brings a reputation for attacking football and getting the best out of his players. We believe he will attract new talent … as well as improving the current squad."
Arsenal fans could become quite worried concerning Aaron Ramsey's contract situation.
The Gunners were reportedly in negotiations of a contract renewal with Ramsey for months, but his agent David Baldwin has claimed otherwise.

Memories of Josimar in 1986 after Alves ruled out with a knee injury
I’m not crying, YOU’RE crying.
Either that or somebody is profusely chopping onions nearby.
Because the end of every season brings with it some emotional tear-jerking goodbyes as the sands of time take its toll on certain players.
AFP or licensors Carrick acknowledges the Old Trafford crowd one last time[/caption]
We saw Michael Carrick given a hero’s send off at Man United on Sunday whilst Andres Iniesta’s departure from Barcelona has captured the hearts of everyone in the game.
But which other legends have – or will be – saying farewell to their clubs this summer that you might not have been aware of?
1 Xabi Prieto – Real Sociedad
EPA Mr Real Sociedad[/caption]
Finding a ‘one-club’ legend is so rare now – which means Iniesta and Prieto’s exits this summer really do pull at the heart strings.
The Real Sociedad captain spent 14 years with the La Liga club, playing alongside everyone from Xabi Alonso to Antoine Griezmann along the way.
And in honour of their skipper Sociedad designed a specific club badge with Prieto’s name and face ahead of his final home game with Leganes at the weekend.
They won it 3-2 and Prieto, despite being plagued by a hernia injury, came on as a late substitute to get the winning send off he deserved.
2 Per Mertesacker – Arsenal

This one slipped slightly under the radar with all the fanfare about Arsene Wenger’s departure.
Mertesacker joined the Gunners seven years ago and went onto captain the club in front of adoring fans who coined him the ‘BFG’.

His knees got the better of him in the end and under doctors’ advice he took the decision to move from the playing field to the backroom staff at Arsenal.
On his day one of the best readers of the game around, proving that pace isn’t always a necessity.
3 Roman Weidenfeller – Borussia Dortmund

A Dortmund stalwart dating almost back to the turn of the millennium.
Two Bundesliga titles, two German Cups and over 450 appearances for the second best side in the country over his career.
Weidenfeller is a hero at Signal Iduna Park and showed his appreciation to their fans in the famous Yellow Wall during his last home game against Mainz last weekend.

4 Angel Rangel – Swansea

A man truly emblematic of Swansea’s rise to the top and subsequent fall from grace.
Rangel was signed from the Spanish lower leagues in 2008 for just £50,000 but went onto make 371 appearances on their incredible adventure to the Premier League.
Was part of the Spanish inquisition in south Wales that also saw the arrivals of Michu and Pablo Hernandez.
The club captain even went in goal for a bit against arch rivals Cardiff in 2013/14.

5 Claudio Pizarro – Koln

Very few players have been so consistently prolific in the Bundesliga in the 20th century.
Think of Pizarro as Germany’s answer to Jermain Defoe; lethal in the penalty area no matter who he was playing for.
Scored 307 goals in just over 700 career games, including 143 for Bayern Munich and one for Koln this season.
At 39 he is coy on his future and still hopes to go to the World Cup with Peru.

SWANSEA legend Leon Britton has announced he will retire after the final game of the season after more than 16 years and 500 appearances for the club.
The honorary Swansea native, 35, will become a club ambassador with a view to going into coaching at the club in the coming years.
Britton joined the Swans from West Ham in 2003, with the club in the then-called Third Division helping them reach the Premier League.
He spent just one season away from the club – at Sheffield United in 2010-11 – and now says he wants to stay forever, even after this weekend’s finale against Stoke.
Britton revealed: “I am delighted to be able to stay on the football club as a club ambassador.
“I have been speaking to the club in the last month or so. I wanted to see what their thoughts were and they wanted to hear mine.
“Staying on was a big thing for me – this club is such a big part of my life and it would be difficult not to.
“I am grateful to have the opportunity to stay on. I am really looking forward to the ambassador role.
‘SAD BUT PROUD’ Angel Rangel to leave Swansea after 11 years as the Premier League strugglers decide not to renew his deal“Over the years I have done a lot of work in the community, with schools and clubs and all different things, and it’s something I have enjoyed.
“I think it’s a perfect role for me at this stage and I am looking forward to getting started.”
Britton also added he sees himself as a Swansea-native after nearly two decades in South Wales, despite his London upbringing.
The ex-West Ham star said: “This is home now. I haven’t lost the London accent, but I have been here nearly 16 years.
“I have more friends here than I have in London and this is where my children were born and are growing up.
“My idea, if possible, would be to stay involved with Swansea for the rest of my life.
“It’s not as easy as that I know, but the ideal scenario for me would be for that to happen.
“In the future coaching is something I will definitely think about. I have had a little taste of doing stuff in the academy and the two games as caretaker manager.
“I will review things as I go along and see what happens a little further down the line.”
